Cycles
Cycles offers an understated reflection on the steady rhythm of the natural world, and the quiet beauty found within its repeating forms.
Cycles is a series of silhouette paintings that reflects on the gentle, repeating patterns found in cultivated gardens and natural landscapes. The series reflects how forms shift over time, how a leaf curls, how a stem releases its seed, how a season moves quietly from one state to another. Each piece is reduced to a simple silhouette, allowing the underlying rhythm of nature to come forward without ornament or urgency.
The neutral palette is drawn from the muted tones of soil, dried foliage, and winter gardens at rest. These colours offer a sense of grounding and mirror the calm recluse that gardens offer throughout the year. In this simplicity, the series finds its language: quiet shapes, subtle transitions, and the patient cycles that have guided gardens long before they were tended.
Created with an awareness of stewardship and care, the series sits comfortably within environments where nature is preserved, studied, or thoughtfully cultivated. It speaks softly to renewal, the patterns of nature, how seasons shift, and how each cycle holds the possibility of beginning once again.
